Multidisciplinary education and IEP teams commonly have parents/guardians sign the initial placement statement after the initial IEP is developed. This session will cover the legal reasons driving the Legacy SOP requirement to collect this signature at the eligibility determination meeting.

What Will You Learn?

  • Participants will learn how the verbiage in IDEA clarifies the school’s timeline to develop an IEP when a parent has not yet agreed in writing to placement in special education.
  • Participants will clearly understand the importance of collecting this signature prior to present level data collection begins
